The source of inspiration is falling.

So, when I’m leaving school soon I guess I will have enough time to actually start writing again.

This is more of a personal post so I put this “read more” here so that any of you only interested in my work and code and the “about me” don’t have to continue reading this.

So what am I doing?

Jun

Well school doesn’t take all my time (not anymore) so I got some time outside school currently.
That makes me able to do stuff other than refreshing my incmoing e-mail hoping for someting positive response in it.

But everything that I do isn’t that important.
However I’m still searching for someone that is willing to take good care of me for the next 30 weeks.
The willingness for this amongst the companies seems to be really low especially near Stockholm where I want to be close to my parents.

Programming wise I’m not putting all my effort on private stuff at the moment but I’m putting off some time too get a few things up as soon as possible.
Getting the top view scoccer game running for a video.
Going to venture into the deep vast djungle that is Photoshop to finish of the ladders so that I can add my Donkey Kong clone.
That is the first prio, space invaders and pacman to be coming.

Hoping for a Sector installer soon, it’s really nice I’m sure people who like FPS would agree that it’s quite good for 9 weeks of developement time

Focus, now!

So we’re getting our chance this friday so try out a new part of the big circus around developing a game.

On this friday we will be able to do a focus-test of our upcoming racing-game with the help of Ubisoft Massive testcenter.
We will have two hours and six computers to our disposal and in that time we need to ask questions to the people that we’re gonna test on to see what we should use our next week to polish on.
Cause that’s all I think there is right now, for the first time ever.

This game will end our time at The Game Assembly, and it really feels like we’re heading to the finish line, both with the game and the education.

Hopefully we will keep our lead for the final lap too and finish first for our last project.
I think we got a big chance.

So I am leaking information.

With only three weaks go and hopefullysome game companies will be making a visit on this site.
I thought it was time to reveal a little bit more information about the last project that we’re current working full time on.

So if you’re interested you can view a shot introduction about the game by clicking on the link to the right or by clicking here.

Code Task from SouthEnd: Donkey Kong

May

Got my answer from SouthEnd today, pretty sweet since I did send it in this Monday.

I love it when I don’t have the time to think, my brain likes it to much.
However they gave me an assignment.

It’s called Code Task 2010 – Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong came out 1981. Six years before I was born.

I’ve taken my time today and created a page for my group that I’ve created the 3D games with and some more information.
Also I took some time and updated the About section with hopefully a little more useful information.

Screenshots from all games will be up tomorrow and movies will follow in the upcoming week since I’ve been having disk space issues.

Nerves sent from Massive with love.

This is more of a realy blog post more than a showcase post.
Most posts so far have been, but I’m going to start updatding the game pages with texts, screenshots and downloads.
Probably in that order to.

Last Wednesday we (my classmates and I) went to Ubisoft Massive to do a code test.
A test is always just that a kind of stressfull experience, especially one that you can not really practice for.

And a shade falls over the shader course.

May

The shader course was graded this week.
When I first enetered the course I wondered how I’d manage all these things we were supposed to learn.
But in the end I finished off with a grade in all types of assignments.
Which I am of course very proud of.

It was 6 weeks of learning a variation of different techniques in rendering using shaders and HLSL.
And what I’ve learned during these weeks are:

  • Shadows Buffers, cascaded and more.
  • HDR
  • Deffered rendering
  • Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
  • Rimlighting
  • Edgedetection

No one ever remembers who came second.

Well, I haven’t been as active posting here as I would have wanted too.
The reason is mainly I don’t find anything we do worth showing yet.
Meybe when I get the chance to continue work on the small stuff we do in class I’ll have something worth showing up.
But those things are mainly estimated to a certain time and we often take the fastest way to get there and it isn’t always what you want to show when people from outside is watching your work.
So many people expect great things from us and therefore I feel I can only show great things back.
For good and evil.

Anyways, to continue on the topic.
We finished our second project which were an RTS a little more than 2 weeks ago and recently the 40 votes with results came in and for the second time we finished in second place.
